Contemporary Ballet Repertoire

Open to dance school students. By permission of
instructor for all others. In this course we will
learn, absorb, and dance excerpts of works of
legendary contemporary ballet choreographers, with
a focus on picking up movement quality,
musicality, building stamina and technical
resilience, and finding the pleasure in moving
together as a group, also removing any gender
barriers to performing the works. There will be a
warm up before beginning the repertoire element of
the class. The over used expression 'Contemporary
Ballet" refers in this case to works created on
dancers with both contemporary dance technique and
ballet technique skills. The class is open to
dance school students and to students from other
schools with substantial dance training by
permission of the instructor.
