Description
The course specifically welcomes students to the
photography and media program that are not able to
join the campus classes in person, have to access
the classes from a remote place, or are new to the
program. Even though everybody is welcome, a
priority is therefor given to new and transfer
students.
The class will offer an introduction to the
photography and media program in the art school.
The main element of the class will be a critique
in which students will present their work, and the
work they are planning to make. Evolving from
those presentations and conversations, students
will be introduced to the concepts and histories
that are relevant in the photo and media program.
Part of the class will therefor also consist of
the reading and discussion of a few elementary
texts.
The class will as well problematize the current
political and social situation that has an impact
on our educational systems, and the way we teach,
learn and are able to meet and talk to one
another. An important element of the class will
therefor be to understand who we are and where we
come from, and from which time zone we are
entering the conversation. We might also invite
guests to the class that help us navigate this
specific time.
