Description
This upper level seminar class combines a focus on
interviews with a wider picture of what life in
the art world entails. The class will feature
discussions with international curators, gallery
directors, artists, filmmakers, architects, etc.
We will also visit production houses in Los
Angeles (foundries, labs, etc) and learn how work
is produced once an artist leaves the institute
and what questions one must ask when executing an
exhibition (budgets, agreements, plans, etc). In
these discussions, students will learn about the
interview format, how to prepare for an interview
and research potential subjects, develop skills in
talking with people, turning those discussions
into a written or recorded text and editing that
into a final form.
