Description
In this course, students will explore improvisation as the impetus for movement invention and dance making. Our improvisational exercises will employ internal forces like sensation, authentic movement, somatics, and external forces like site-based responsiveness and ensemble collaboration. Shifting the scale of our intention and attention over the course, we will try to become more aware of the interior and exterior impulses that move us. Students should expect to practice directing, performing, and offering feedback. We will close with each student devising their own score to be performed at the close of the session by their selected ensemble.
