Description

Career Designs for Artists provides students from all artistic disciplines with practical tools for navigating the systemic structures of capitalism and the arts industries, as well as insights into building their careers after graduation with regard to health, wellness, and ethical decision making. Topics to be covered include: basics of economics for artists; creating professional publicity materials such as bios, artist statements, and EPKs; introduction to legal tools for artists including contracts, copyright, and collaborator agreements; financial health for artists, accounting, and taxes; funding your work through grant writing and pitches; business structures for artists, preparing resumes, CVs, and cover letters; and developing the ability to adapt to a constantly changing industry through researching upcoming trends and collaborative artistic paths. Students will prepare presentations in these areas as they apply to their own professional interests and goals.
