Special Topics in Sound Design: Live Mixing for
Theater.
Starting with the script, the course will cover
the breakdown, annotation, and organization
necessary to create a "run script". This
information can then be used to layout a console
and program cues to mix a live show. The course
will have a large practical component in which
students will be assigned sections of a show to
program and mix. With each assignment, the
student is expected to improve their mixing skill
and explore more advanced concepts related to
dynamics, musicality, management of sound quality
using EQ and compression.
