Description
Science forecasts that, without radical change,
the world as we know it may cease to be able to
support homo sapien within decades. This course
will engage with guest experts in radical life
extension, AI that teaches empathetic kindness,
free swimming robotic replicants, and NASA
inter-planetary explorers to begin to understand
some of the pioneering that will define the future
of our species. From these encounters, the course
will culminate in a design marathon where students
work individually, or in teams, to develop and
prototype concepts to meet the challenge of
achieving a sustainable deep future.
This course uses the lens of Experience Design to
connect student designers and artists to current
thinking around deep, speculative futures.
