Description

Specific topics for this course will vary widely
per semester but the core focus is on costume
design as an expanded practice
exploring the relationship between dress, the body
and human existence. Projects will center around
the role of the designer in
creating costume and character in a range of
performative mediums including but not limited to
live performance, film and
animation and pointing a finger at the extent to
which the material costume co-authors performance
itself.
Emphasis will be placed on developing
communication skills and enhance the students
ability to collaborate with fellow artists in
concept -creation, analysis and image making. !
Topics for the class will include but are not
limited to: Costume in Animation, Subcultures,
Anthopology ( global culture and
dress) short story adaptations, Costumes in Film,
Dress and Typography, Inflatables , you name
it..,etc.. Please see the specific
