Description
This course will provide an overview of creative
production for musicians ranging from small DIY
events to larger, more formal concerts,
fundraisers, festivals, and more. Through
lectures, discussion, hands-on assignments, and
visiting artist presentations, students will
explore practical, aesthetic, and transformational
aspects of production and artistic collaboration.
Topics include: community building, communication
and consent; organizational strategies and
scheduling; audio, livestream, lighting, and
staging considerations; legal considerations
including contracts, licensing, copyright,
trademark, business and nonprofit structures;
marketing and promotion; curation and
commissioning; budgeting and accounting; and grant
writing, fundraising, and pitching your project.
