Music Cultures of Mainland Southeast Asia
A survey of traditional and modern musical forms
being practiced in Mainland SE Asia. This course
will cover a wide variety of styles found in
Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar.
In addition to direct musical analysis, the class
will engage in regular discussion regarding the
social, cultural, and historical elements that
have helped to shape practices in the region.
