Description
The seminar will serve as a research environment
to explore computer-assisted soundscape and
electroacoustic composition techniques. Through
weekly lectures and group-oriented experiments
students will develop new sound works using field
recordings or their instrument and Max/MSP. The
course will be divided into three topic modules:
spaces and soundscapes, analysis and re-synthesis,
and multi-channel spatialization. At the end of
each module, students will present original works
using techniques and concepts developed throughout
the module. The final project will be a
substantial musical work that considers all three
module topics in its implementation. A solid
understanding of Max/MSP is recommended before
enrolling in the seminar.
Recommended but not required requisite courses:
Fundamentals of Computer Music (MSCM-150) and
Composition with Max/MSP (MCMP-465/665)
